Milky Elephants And Artsy Fanciness
We haven't see a whole lot from artist Eun-Ha Paek on the Internet front lately, but her quintessential online installation is still a sight to behold.
The first half of the series, "The Fancy," is a short arty webcomic chronicling the story of Ellie the elephant, who covets a pair of magical flying shoes owned by a pious robot girl. From there, we transition into "L'Faux," an series of sequential animation following the girl as she searches for her stolen legs. Both series blend hand-painted art and photography in a quaint "zine" style, and while the animation is a little primitive at times, the piece as a whole is engaging, cute, and occasionally truly heartbreaking.
"The Fancy" and "L'Faux" can be seen on Eun-Ha's corner of Milky Elephant, the design organization which she co-founded. Sadly, the post-climax finale of "L'Faux" is only available on Milky Elephant's CD-rom zine, which I'm not even sure is still available. Still, what's accessible for your viewing pleasure is nothing less than satisfying.
