The Munchkins Take Hollywood

Really now, does Hollywood think it's doing anybody a favor with the Walk of Fame anymore? I called shenanigans on them the day that Ryan Seacrest queen got his own star.
But once in a great while, the Walk is still graced with the names of true silver-screen royalty--and this week, we saw some of classic Hollywood's most under-sung superstars get the recognition they so richly deserve. I refer, of course, to the Munchkins, the talented little men, women, and children who have made the land of Oz that much more magical for seven decades of viewers.
Surviving Munchkins Mickey Carroll, Ruth Duccini, Jerry Maren, Margaret Pellegrini, Meinhardt Raabe, Karl Slover and Clarence Swensen were on hand at the event; according to the Associated Press, a marching band escorted the Munchkins' horse-drawn carriage to a yellow-brick carpet. The AP quotes a grateful Carroll:
"We love you; you have touched our hearts."Brings a tear to my jaded, jaded eye. Hollywood, it's about damn time.
