Growing Cast For Van Sant's Milk

Some time ago, Sean Penn was cast in the role of openly gay San Fransisco official Harvey Milk in Gus Van Sant's upcoming film, simply entitled Milk. Recently cast alongside him are Emile Hirsch, James Franco, and Josh Brolin as Milk's assassin who famously formulated the Twinkie defense.
Honestly, I can't stand Sean Penn and I have no idea why. He's a relatively decent actor, and he seems like a relatively decent human being. There's just something about his face that makes me want to slap him. Maybe it's just a knee-jerk Pavlov's dog reaction left over from his stint as Spicoli. In any case, I'm not sure how I feel about him portraying an icon like Harvey Milk, though I'll admit I can see a bit of a resemblance.

I have the same reaction to Kirsten Dunst, and am thankful she wasn't considered for the role of Milk.
