I wish I could link to the site that dug this up for me—Nightcharm is one of the best gay pop culture blogs on the internet, but it also happens to be an, um, adult entertainment site, so you'll have to Google them without the assistance of sweet, innocent Danny. (Though if you are over 18, please do Google 'em! That name, again, is Nightcharm.)

Anyhow, this here is Beef, a recent entry in the rapidly growing field of homoerotically-themed horror flicks. Though not explicitly homogay, I think the subtext is clear enough in this clip... Obsessed with the male physique? Filled with self-loathing? Mysteriously cold to his girlfriend? Uh huh, I think I've heard this story before. (I do believe that book is called Nancy Drew and the Case of the Glass Closet.)

Beef inverts the usual slasher formula of stacked, female victims providing peripheral cheap thrills to straight-boy viewers—here the eye candy is just as stacked, but oh-so-male, and the target viewer is... well, not necessarily straight (or boys). Forget the scream queens of yesteryear—this is a Scream Kings production.

It's also pretty clear from this clip that Scream King production values are not exactly top-shelf, but is that what you really want from a direct-to-DVD slasher flick? Or do you want gym-buffed dudes and a bathtub full of severed limbs?

I think we both know the answer to that question.
