Christensen On The "Case"

Hayden Christensen will apparently be starring in the Neuromancer movie.
In other news...they're actually going to make a Neuromancer movie? Awesome!
In other news...Hayden Christensen? Dammit! Or rather, nooooooo!
I won't say for certain that this is an omen of an inevitable suckfest, but even though Neuromancer is one of my favorite books ever, cyberpunk author William Gibson has been known to get involved with a stinker or two. Remember Johnny Mnemonic? Yeah.
Neuromancer is oft-considered the defining novel of the cyberpunk genre. It's about a talented hacker named Case who uncovers a mystery hidden within the virtual cyberspace known as the "Matrix," a term Gibson coined well before the release of that one good movie and those sequels which totally ruined said movie forever. Christ, am I an embittered nerd today or what?

God, I'll usually watch anyone as anything in the movies and not complain, but he's basically a talentless hack.
Why do people keep casting him? He's just awful.
It should be noted that Johnny Mnemonic was written by Gibson to be a totally different movie - Sony cut it to bits because they were afraid of offending people or, apparently, making something that wasn't a festering pile.
Gibson blogged about it years ago: http://www.williamgibsonbooks.com/archive/2003_05_01_archive.asp (scroll down to May 10, the entry 'Derailing Moments').
