Curiouser and Curiouser About Upcoming Alice Movie

It may be old news, but those not in the know might be pleased to know that a film adaptation of American McGee's Alice is currently slated for this July. Sarah Michelle Gellar will play the title role, and the wicked Queen of Hearts will be played by Jean Marsh, a woman with plenty of experience playing awesomely mad-as-a-hatter villains, including the crazy lady from Willow, the crazy lady from Return to Oz, and the crazy lady from that one Tomorrow People. With the bugs? Anyone? Well.
I haven't gotten around to actually playing Alice yet, but I'm definitely looking forward to this movie.

I was excited about this, but Wes Craven's departure as director made me love it a little less, even if his stuff has lately sucked more often than not. Also, isn't SMG a little old for this?
The film I'm more excited about would be Tim Burton's motion capture version of Alice in Wonderland, which, according to his Wikipedia profile, is still in production. If only they could combine these two into one superproject.
To be honest I'm expecting the worst. I predict that they're going to throw in all the most tired goth cliches instead of making something truly spooky and original.
I'm gonna stay positive on this. The game provides a very solid base, if the director chooses to actually use it as a guideline (though history has shown that they prefer not to). Also, I love SMG, though I will admit that she does seem to be older than what this role is looking for. The Alice of the game is only supposed to be in her mid- to late teens, no? But then....I also heard that it was going to be CG, so if all she does is provide the voice, then it's all good.
Will, definitely play the game. It's worth the money spent, even if the ending is a bit rushed. And I know exactly which Tomorrow People season you're talking about, crazy lady and her killer mosquitos.
ah, it's a gorgeous game that came into my life at a very impressionable time, rendering me infatuated with alice in wonderland and gothic whimsicality up to the current day. how bad can the movie be, really? more importantly, who's the cheshire cat?
