Dick/Dune Boondoggle: Mind Boggles

Think publishers don't give sci-fi classics the respect they deserve? Maybe you'll change your tune when you see the lavish cover art on this copy of The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch by Philip K. Dick. They really went all-out! See those majestic, winged ornithopters? The eerie blue eyes and moisture-retaining costumes of the natives crossing the dunes? It's the desert planet Arrakis, just as Dick describes it in the novel!
Waiiiit a minute. I'm starting to think this should be the cover of another science fiction classic. And indeed it is!

Whuuuuhh??O_o
They recycled the covers during the original publications?
This is a little window into how far the SciFi genre has come over the years - back then you were probably lucky to get a full-color cover at all!
