GI Joe has its Duke

Tatum.jpg

Variety is reporting some new casting news about next years GI Joe film movie.

Dennis Quaid has signed on to play the team leader General Hawk.

Arnold Vosloo will play Zartan.

Step Up star Channing Tatum will play Duke. I didn't think they wanted to go so young with it but the guy seems to be a decent actor so we'll see how it turns out.

It seems the role of Duke was originally offered to Sam Worthington. That inexplicable move was shot down thankfully due to scheduling conflicts. Sam Worthington recently played Jimmy Olsen in Superman Returns. How could he possibly have been Duke?? Someone needs to check these casting directors resumes.

Edit: Thanks to reader Sam for pointing out my blunder in incorrectly stating that Sam Worthington is the cute doof from Superman Returns...that is Sam Huntington. Sam Worthington is actually a rather attractive Aussie who would actually make a great Duke. Sorry for my blunder :P

Sam Worthington is a reasonably macho Australian actor. Sam Huntington is the goofy, non-macho goofus from Superman Returns.
