New Sci-Fi/Futurist Site

Hydra-like webmonster Gawker Media reared another lovely head yesterday, with CEO (and new Gawker.com editor) Nick Denton announcing the launch of sci-fi spinoff io9! So I was pleasantly surprised to click through the io9 archives and see that they've already got like months' worth of posts up. Industrious! Naturally, a good half-dozen of those entries are actually cross-posted articles from other Gawker sister-sites announcing the launch of io9—it's a veritable M.C. Escher drawing of internet self-promotion!—but give that archive a good hard look. It's got thoroughly Popsuckerish posts like this one, on the intersection between great disco and bad sci-fi (two of our favorite things!).
Ah, welcome to my RSS feed, io9. I'm sure I'll be regularly plagiarizing um, referencing your fabulousest stories for the foreseeable future.

I was frankly surprised by the deluge of posts on the site. I'm wondering if they're going to be able to sustain that amount of posts over the long run. Though I must say I'm not a fan of their logo choice it's like the Borg just assimilated a Sanrio factory.
