Phighting The Good Phight: WBC On Our Side?

Most people would probably raise an eyebrow (or perhaps fall down laughing) at somebody who referred to fanatical hatemonger Fred Phelps as a gay rights activist. Phags for Phelps suggests that unbeknownst to the GodHatesFags.com kingpin, that's exactly what he is.
If it's even possible to pay the Westboro Baptist Church a compliment (the jerks are actually planning to picket Heath Ledger's funeral!), it would have to be that they are unabashedly honest. That's what sets them apart from more image-conscious homophobes. They aren't actually interested in changing anybody's mind, and their undisguisedly bigoted funeral-picket ravings publicly expose homophobia for what it truly is: asinine and artlessly ugly. It may not be their intention, but the Phelps family's activism is actually generating pro-gay sentiment.
Fred's estranged son, quoted on the Phags for Phelps website, sums it up best.
I'd much prefer to have the in your face, truthful hatred of my family toward gays than the equivocating, hair-splitting justifications of so many in the mainstream who mask their prejudice with cute little sayings like "love the sinner, hate the sin" while they behave with hatred and prejudice by even defining it as sin.

I have always agreed with that!!
I'm SOOO sick of people, gay and straight alike, pretended like they hate homophobia and then only quoting the nutcases like Phelps.
Meanwhile the "mainstream" of American culture denies us civil equality, spreads lies and misinformation about us and our families, CONSTANTLY participates in covert homophobia.
And I have actually told Christians to their face, who have told me they "love me but hate my sin", that I would rather they at least have the balls to be honest about their hatred rather than hide it with a fake, sugary attitude. Nothing irritates me more than hypocrisy and fake niceness. Blech.
