Professor, What's Another Word For Hidden Treasure?

Booty is the title of last fall's exhibition of Julie Heffernan's quasi-allegorical, Arcimboldo-inspired self-portraits at the P.P.O.W. gallery in New York, and also the subject of this painting, Self-Portrait as Booty.

All the paintings in the show present the artist, nude, as a sort of prop for displaying great heaps of dead things... it's a creepy, gorgeous take-off on classical traditions of portraiture and conspicuous consumption, feminist after a sly and witty fashion.
