Living, breathing Southern gothic character Johnny Eric Marlowe is facing charges of child abuse following accusations that he circumcised at least two of his eleven children, freehand, with a utility knife.

Marlowe—actually, can I call him Johnny Eric? Okay thanks. Johnny Eric lived with his legal wife and another female partner in a Big Love-type situation down in rural North Carolina. Both bore his children; both were denied prenatal care. None of the children, aged 2 to 11, were enrolled in school before Johnny Eric's arrest. The boys on whom he practiced his amateur surgery were born within just a few months of each other—meaning that our pal Johnny Eric lives in a parallel universe where it's perfectly okay to impregnate two women at one time without either one receiving medical attention—and while a third boy shows signs of similar abuse, no charges have been brought in that case.

Shockingly, Johnny Eric's back-to-basics approach to child-rearing has not found favor with the law—he was already in jail for neglect (and assault on a female, and resisting an officer) when the felony abuse charges were filed.
