Has Boston Legal been canceled?

ABC announced yesterday that nine of its prime time scripted series have been picked up to return next fall.

These include Ugly Betty, Lost, Brothers & Sisters, Desperate Housewives, and Grey's Anatomy. New shows Pushing Daisies, Dirty Sex Money, Samantha Who, and Private Practice have also been renewed.

Missing from this list are both Men In Trees and one of my favorite shows Boston Legal.

Word has not been officially given as to whether the show is canceled or not but its absence from yesterdays announcement does not bode well. ABC has said the fate of Boston Legal will be known in May.

The show could be heading back into production as soon as next week in order to finish the last eight episodes for this season which means if this is true we might get a proper finale.

I can only hope this is not the case as losing Boston Legal would create a difficult void to fill for television. It is quite frankly one of the best shows on television right now. With luck another network will pick it up. I need my Shatner!
