Pokeclipse Now

Whilst traversing the eclectic realm known as the Internets, you may have come across the term Otherkin, people who claim to be the reincarnations of mythical beings, like dragons and elves.

You may also have heard of Otakukin, people who believe that they're the physical manifestations of modern fictional characters.

So in light of these...interesting phenomena...it's not terribly difficult to comprehend a community of people who believe that, while they are not Pokemon themselves, there is a dimension where Pokemon actually exist, and that man will one day be able to enter this world, where he would presumably then proceed to endeavor toward catching them all, possibly while wearing some sort of jacket and baseball cap ensemble.

I'm still not really sure how seriously to take this. Some people just get, like, really, really into roleplaying sometimes, right? And suppose it turns out they're actually right! We skeptics are gonna look pretty ridiculous then. Everyone else is gonna have Pokemon, and the unbelievers will have to make do with Beyblades or something else totally lame.

I wonder how many Otakukin are manifestations of super powered hot main characters and how many are the reject sidekicks?

Ah come on. We all know that the internet is a haven for socially-inept idiots and delusional morons, but do you REALLY need to post about them? I mean, this is only going to encourage trolling, and is that really what we want?

Only troll I see here is you, Marsten.

The concept of "otakukin" is no more or less retarded than the idea of a man walking on water, turning water to wine and then rising from his grave after being dead for three days.

It's the rule, not the exception, for humans to believe idiotic, delusional things. There's no need to throw mud at a little group of pokemon-lovers, especially when there is absolutely no indication they are hurting anyone, which is more than I can say for a lot of Christians. So lighten up.

By the way my otakukin spirit guide is Jigglypuff.
