Retrophilia: Spring Is In The... Air?

retrophilia (ret troh FEE lee uh) n. 1 An intense attraction for things of the past. 2 a weekly series for popsucker wherin the irrepressible Wootini reveals the horrors of the past to the present to avoid making the same mistakes in the future.
It's only March, so I'm kind of jumping the gun on this one, but it's very nearly spring, right? Well, what do you think of when you imagine spring? Fresh air, warmer temperatures, trees and flowers in bloom... possibly heading out into nature to enjoy all those things? Well, sure, of course you do! And while this little image might look like a beautiful waterfall in spring, the rest of the ad puts it in a very different context. Make the jump and see what I mean!

That's right, go on and smoke 'em if you've got 'em -- It's like springtime in your lungs!
This just cracks me up. Are they trying to imply that smoking a menthol cigarette is going to make you feel like you're out in the woods by a tranquil waterfall enjoying nature? Or are they suggesting that the next time you're out in the woods by a tranquil waterfall enjoying nature you should enhance your nature-loving with some menthol-tinged carbon monoxide? Because I kind of think that would defeat the purpose.
Either way, the idea of menthol "air-softening" every puff is hilarious. I've tried menthol cigarettes, and "soft" isn't exactly how I would've described the flavor. And it certainly never refreshed my taste the way springtime refreshes you. But hey, at least they've got modern filters, right?

I'm in flavor country...
I think that's my mom in the background and this was right around the time I was conceived.....oh my. That would explain things.
