Retrophilia: Sweet Thang

sucarylsm.jpg

retrophilia (ret troh FEE lee uh) n. 1 An intense attraction for things of the past. 2 a weekly series for popsucker wherin the irrepressible Wootini reveals the horrors of the past to the present to avoid making the same mistakes in the future.

The life of a housewife was full of stress, what with all the cooking and cleaning and taking care of ungrateful little brats. Oh, and making sure you have hubby's martini ready when he comes home from work. Luckily, there's apparently one thing that they didn't have to worry about. What could this woman be turning down? Make the jump to find out!

How lovely that she can take a break from the vacuuming to relax with a nice hot cup of coffee. And how wonderful that she can use Sucaryl to ensure that she doesn't gain weight from the calories in real sugar, thereby causing her husband to lose interest in her and take up an affair with the voluptuous blond secretary he recently hired at the office.

The tablets look adorably tiny, but what I really love is the streamlined quasi-futuristic 60s styling of the liquid bottle. Awesome. Oh, and a little bit of internet research seems to indicate that Sucaryl was taken off the market in the US after lab tests showed it caused cancer. Of course, it was replaced with other artificial sweeteners that probably do the same, but whatever. Sucaryl is apparently banned in the US, but can be found elsewhere on the globe, though, if you're worried about losing your husband to his secretary while you gain weight vacuuming the house!

And girls who like girls who like stuff!
