We're Here! We're Emo! Get Used To It!

emoemu.bmp

Apparently, Mexico is being plagued by vicious attacks on the countries population of Emo Kids prompting riot police to take to the streets.

But that's not the entire story. Now, the countries Emo folk are banding together and marching to protest the rash of attacks.

Apparently, being emo is equatable to being gay in Mexico which is not exactly accepted down there I guess and that is the reason people are attacking them.

Man some people in this world are just plain stupid. What's the point of attacking someone just because of how they dress?

Check out this video of the kids demonstrating.

Odd...do you think that the people doing the attacking realize that in some parts of the world, you could be attacked just for being Mexican? I bet they'd say something like "Hey! That's not fair!"...

Hypocracy is one of the worst traits of humanity (though the list of bad traits is rather long, of course).

God... do a little research b4 you comment... The mexican population did not attack Emos, Punks (which are only a small part of the population) attacked Emos...

"some parts of the world..." yeah we know... the same way americans get discriminated in some parts Europe...

Ironicly you may say that this is because of the association of Emo with Gay... but it's actually because of the rivalry between the two groups...

Are some of the punks homophobes, probably...

but generalizations are also one of the worst traits of humanity...

It's normally groups of ppl or specific persons

Horokeh, I get the feeling you're peeved at me...if so, I'm not sure why.

1. I never said the whole Mexican population attacked Emos...but it was a safe assumption that all of the attackers were Mexican (as where the Emos, of course) due to the site of the attacks...Mexico.

2. That Mexicans (or other Latinos) are discriminated against and even the victims of violence due to their actual or perceived nationality/ethnicity is a fact. Me pointing it out does not imply that I am in favor of it...just like I'm not in favor of kids being attacked because of their actual or perceived Emo-ness.

3. I never said that other groups (Americans, Whites, Blacks, Tibetans, Eskimos, what-have-you) AREN'T discriminated against...nor did I imply that I am in favor of any type of oppression or discrimination, regardless of the form or reason. I feel that as long as one group's actions are not harming anyone else, then we should live and let live. I fail to see what "Punks" vs. "Emos" has to do with it. Should I feel different if it was "Northerners" vs. "Southerners", "Rappers" vs. "Folksingers" or "Homemakers" vs. "Homosexuals"? Who CARES what they're affiliation is?! When one group inflicts itself on the (presumably) smaller, more vulnerable group, they need to be called on it.

4. Sorry, but I'm sick of your brand of PC priggishness. Political Correctness is a tool, and like any other tool, it can be overused and used improperly. To say that one can't speak in generalizations is stupid. I don't have the time (nor the inclination) to justify and micro-dissect every topic every time I talk about something. Perhaps you enjoy long conversations crammed to capacity with caveats and explanations...I loath them. If some moron can't understand that an off-the-cuff generalization isn't a call for a pan-inclusive fatwah, that's their problem. I'll gladly respond to any civil questions, but I won't spoon-feed someone every nuance. I make no apologies for someone else's thick-headedness.

So...let's see...

"People (Mexican or otherwise) shouldn't be mean to other people (Emo or otherwise). Can we all hug now?

And girls who like girls who like stuff!
