Shayamalan To Direct Live-Action Airbender

Man, I really wasn't kidding yesterday about the anime remakes. Yet another live-action adaptation is in the works, this one based upon what I'm pretty sure is the only American-made anime-style cartoon that is actually good.
An Avatar: The Last Airbender film (not be confused with James Cameron's Avatar project) is planned for July 2010, and none other than M. Night Shyamalan has signed on to direct. Shyamalan's popularity has waned recently with flops like Lady in the Water, which I rather liked myself. While I would have much preferred an animated Avatar movie with even more epic Miyazaki-style art and animation, I suppose that this live-action project could be decent as long as Shyamalan doesn't tack on a clever twist ending where the characters turn out to be robot alien ghosts or something.

Meh, this makes me nervous... I like the director, I really do, but still... Meh. -_-
I don't like the director or the idea of adapting Avatar to live action.
That said, I love Avatar and will probably see the movie anyway.
