Literal Witch Hunt At Florida Middle School

I don't think there's any way I could describe this incident in my own words with any justice. Long story short, a Florida teacher was fired for performing a magic trick.
"I get a call the middle of the day from head of supervisor of substitute teachers. He says, 'Jim, we have a huge issue. You can't take any more assignments. You need to come in right away.' I said, 'Well, Pat, can you explain this to me?' 'You've been accused of wizardry,'" Piculas explained.
Shades of Salem! I really cannot think of a cooler reason to get fired. Has a more awesome phrase than "You've been accused of wizardry" ever been uttered outside of a Diana Wynne Jones novel? I wish somebody would accuse me of wizardry.

I think I would list that on every single job application from now on:
Reason for leaving position: Accused of Wizardy
That would guarantee a job anywhere!
::blink::
I live in Florida. If I ever have children, I'm either moving to a different state or sending them to a boarding school.
I mean seriously? Wizardry?
Plus any state that will let me teach has to have a messed up education system.
I agree. I am totally using this phrase on my resumes from now on.

To be honest, I'm not sure if the phrase "You've been accused of wizardry" has ever been uttered in a DWJ novel, either. My immediate memory doesn't remind me of any of them where you could get arrested for doing magic, though Dark Lord of Derkholm and Year of the Griffin had some really thought-policy high wizards who wanted to quash magical originality at least. I could be very wrong, however, as it's been ages since I've read some of her books and memory is highly falliable. Not to mention that one or two I've yet to tuck into. Correct me if I'm wrong, of course.

*Has read way too many DWJ novels and seriously despises those people on DeviantArt who say "Hauru"*
Witch Week is the book I had in mind, though it's actually been a while since I've read it.
