Retrophilia: Think Pink

retrophilia (ret troh FEE lee uh) n. 1 An intense attraction for things of the past. 2 a weekly series for popsucker wherin the irrepressible Wootini reveals the horrors of the past to the present to avoid making the same mistakes in the future.
Looking back at some of the egregious wardrobe choices in the '60s and '70s is always good for a laugh, but you know, hair and makeup changed just as much over the decades, and can sometimes be even weirder.
Like this Max Factor ad you're going to find after the break. Warning: Very girly pink ahead!

Wow. That's a lot of pink. I mean a lot of pink!
It's the "great new color adventure for summer," don't you know. Love the way they differentiate between "Pink-A-Pale" being "soft, feminine and fragile" and "Pink-A-Fling" being "lively, zingy and daring." Because you wouldn't want to make that mistake. You know, go out on a date wearing Pink-A-Fling and give all the boys the wrong impression.
But is there such a thing as too much pink? Judging from this model, I'd say yes. I mean, pink lips is one thing, and I'll give you pink nail polish, which is the other thing they're selling. But the pink eyeshadow is just a bit much. It's so pale. Her whole face become one big pink blur. I guess selling at as California Pink-A-Pades is meant to have all the girls on the East Coast hoping to look like one of those California Girls by turning their faces the color of Pepto Bismol. Fun!
Love the mod '60s line art, though. Very fab!

Such a thing as too much pink? Rubbish!
And, I want the Hedwig hair the clones in the ad are sporting.
Yeah,I agree the hair is awesome. Not for me or a date, but it's great.
