A History of Memes

memetimeline.png

This is perhaps the most comprehensive listing of notable Internet memes I've ever seen, and it's arranged on a fairly easy-to-navigate timeline, so you can chart the distance between Dancing Baby and Garfield Minus Garfield.

The timeline gets more and more cramped as we get closer to the present. I can only assume that sooner or later memes will appear at a rate of approximately one anthropomorphized cat per nanosecond.

You simply cannot have a serious discussion about memes without mentioning the father of memetic theory, professor Richard Dawkins.
