Retrophilia: Love Story

lovestorysm.jpg

retrophilia (ret troh FEE lee uh) n. 1 An intense attraction for things of the past. 2 a weekly series for popsucker wherin the irrepressible Wootini reveals the horrors of the past to the present to avoid making the same mistakes in the future.

Look at that happy couple, so in love. But from that shot you can't really tell what it is. Painting? Sculpture? Trust me when I tell you that you won't be able to guess. So just make the jump, and prepare to be a little creeped out!

That's right, it's a limited edition collector's hand-painted music box inspired by the movie Love Story. I mean, you can totally see it, right? They look just like Ryan O'Neal and Ali MacGraw! The spitting image! Well, if Ryan O'Neal was a transsexual and Ali MacGraw was a Native American...

The text is also a little overblown. I'm not sure I'd really describe Love Story as a "heartwarming movie." Heartbreaking, maybe, but certainly not particularly heartwarming. And I highly doubt that as you listen to the movie's theme and watch the figurine lovers revolve in a circle, "they literally seem to come to life in rollicking snow games, high-spirited adventure and warm tender love." Well, I guess if those are the memories it's meant to stir up, you'd probably remember Love Story as heartwarming. Just avoid thinking about the ending. Spoiler alert!

I also love the way that they insist that it's destined to become a treasured collector's piece, and "when you see it in person, and only then, will you fully appreciate its lovely and exquisite charm." Right. So buy one, and you'll see how good it is. We know it looks like crap in the photo. But we swear it looks much better in reality! Honest! Just order one!

And don't forget, supplies are limited, so "to avoid disappointment," order one now! It's only five bucks! Although I'm curious what the "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" music box looks like. It's not pictured, so you'll be taking your chances adding another five bucks to your order, but if it's Paul Newman and Robert Redford in a similar pose, it would totally be worth it!

And girls who like girls who like stuff!
