Retrophilia: The San Francisco Treat

retrophilia (ret troh FEE lee uh) n. 1 An intense attraction for things of the past. 2 a weekly series for popsucker wherin the irrepressible Wootini reveals the horrors of the past to the present to avoid making the same mistakes in the future.
Wait. Are these people eating in a train car? That's not weird, but it looks like they're eating dinner in a cable car riding around San Francisco. Now that's weird. Or it would be if that's what they were actually doing. Because they're not. Make the jump to see what's really going on!

That's right, it's a regular train car, but with a wall illustrated to make it look like you're in a San Francisco cable car. It's "... so gay, so colorful and so much fun, you'll think you're already in San Francisco!" Yeah, not so much. It's just a photo. Plus, if those windows behind the other couple are real, that'll probably ruin the illusion.
I love that they described it as gay, because since this was 1961, they meant "fun." But because they're talking about San Francisco, it's hilariously appropriate. I also don't know what to say about the employee bringing the couples their food and drinks, except again, it was 1961. Sigh.
Although, in the copy, they mention that the train also has Vista-Domes upstairs that let you look all around as you travel through the scenic countryside. Honestly, that sounds like it would be a lot better than sitting in the new San Francisco Cable Car Room and looking at a giant photograph of a street!
