retrophilia (ret troh FEE lee uh) n. 1 An intense attraction for things of the past. 2 a weekly series for popsucker wherin the irrepressible Wootini reveals the horrors of the past to the present to avoid making the same mistakes in the future.
Everybody knows the classic "I Want You" Uncle Sam poster. Thing is, he's supposed to be wanting you to join the US Army. After the jump, you'll find an ad from 1977 where the patriotic old coot wants you to do something completely inappropriate! Happy Fourth of July, everybody!
Love it. There's just something delightfully subversive about using such iconic imagery to sell drug paraphernalia. "Any one of our patented U.S. Bongs can get you higher than a rocket on the 4th of July?" Fabulous! "Blow your mind the all-American way!" It would certainly make the fireworks show more spectacular!
Although the idea of a "Gatling Bowl" makes me just a bit nervous. Wonder how that one is supposed to work!
