Key Players Back For New Scream Trilogy

scream4.jpg

A new trilogy of Scream movies may not sound like the best idea ever, but it might not be the worst. The original movies were designed to satirize tropes of the horror genre at the time, but screenwriter Kevin Williamson says that Scream 4 will include references to more recent trends, including Japanese ghosts and "torture porn."

Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette are all on board for the sequel, and it seems reasonably likely that Wes Craven will direct.

Liggett, the company that made Chesterfields for most of their history, is headquartered near where I went to college. In the early '90s I was doing some research into old student organizations and found that the school yearbooks up until the '60's always had Chesterfield advertisements in the actual yearbooks, which just blew my mind.

I was actually a smoker at the time (I've long since quit them) and found Chesterfields to be boring and kind of tasteless. Now I imagine they would be just as gross as any other brand.

Oh, for Pete's sakes. Obviously that was meant to go on the "Smoke 'Em If You've Got 'Em" post.

As for Scream sequels, I guess it's the sort of inevitability one must accept with a small sigh. The fact that a franchise as trashy as Saw can crank out sequels one after the other and make money guarantees that every better property will likewise have every penny wrung from it.

I guarantee that 'Scream 4' starts with Neve Campbell dying. That way, they can have it star some random young chick that no one cares about. There, I just saved you the price of a movie ticket. You're welcome.
