Video: Strangest Thing I Saw Today...
So I recently watched season one of the Fame TV series, and thought that Lori Singer did a terrific job of miming playing the cello as preppy music student Julie Miller. Turns out, she wasn't miming at all, and is actually a skilled cellist who studied at Julliard! Who knew? Well, I didn't, that's for sure.
Which is why, when the Kids From Fame did a live tour to support the series, Singer didn't sing (because she really can't she had one solo song in the first season, and my ears are still bleeding), but she rocked out to Michael Jackson's "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" on her cello! Dig the '80s spandex tights! Awesome!

One of my favorite shows! I'm old enough to remember watching Fame back when it first ran on TV. Yeah, Lori's voice was pretty wretched, but I loved her little cello number, too.
Sadly, Gene Anthony Ray (Leroy) died of AIDS a few years ago.
